I want to do more bloody neon but it’s so discouraging when it doesn’t do well on Tumblr. I should just make it for the joy of making it and I think that’s probably something I’m more capable of doing now that I have been in the past but, it would still be cool to have other people with me and on board.
I also have vague ideas of doing some characters a bit like my Dynah because I’m still terribly enamored with the turn of the 19th century into the 20th as far as fashion goes, thanks to Great Great +/- Great Aunt Verne. I want to give them all names that were so common then but we never see now. Cora, Arminta, Euphemia, so many more Matilas and Harriets and Abigails. Estelle and Maude and Irene.
More object heads, I don’t know. I think it would be fun to make something that focuses on how delightfully layered and sweet and cute these dresses are while also indulging in casual murder I don’t know I just have had such an enjoyment of these costumes for so long that I feel like I must do something with them.
There’s also like two character lingering on the edges of things that I would like to just claim and make and keep.
I know original stuff gets no traction here at all, but i would really enjoy trying to do whatever it is that makes them do that. It’s like a little petri dish of seeing if you can make and engaging image even without an entire franchise of knowledge behind it. Sometimes that means making your image really generic but I hope that it might work in the other way too.
I have no idea why I woke up wanting to draw these two today, but here are dinosaur guy and insect guy.

I always found it catchy ever since I first saw the convention video in the early 2000s or whatever but because it’s super clear now it’s really easy to sing while doing other things so I’m just picking stuff up going

They just exist to be together, man, that’s it.
Completely forgot to try to scan all the little talking comics in my sketchbook today, but I do want to mention in general that I love having just decided that no one will see anything in my sketchbook unless I decide it.
Kind of took the pandemic to reset my head in this way. It’s not like I was making a giant habit of showing everybody everything in my sketchbook anyway, but I think the mentality was just left over from art school where it was like you should always have your Sketchbook and you should always be prepared to open it to the best page for anyone you might happen to meet who needs an artist. And I started feeling like I needed to make sure I never do anything embarrassing and maybe I want to have like a backup sketchbook for my Sketchbook and then like a backup sketchbook for the backup SketchBook.
But now I never see people so all of my sketchbooks are just freedom town. I have a bunch of internalized things that make it difficult for me to draw shit that feels embarrassing (thanks to Some People) but it is getting better! It is definitely better from when I first started trying to actively counteract it like 10 years ago and it’s better than it was five and even two years ago so we are going somewhere!
