Hey, I’m glad to hear it!
I carry a massive, massive, massive amount of shame around with me largely regarding sharing and admitting to the things that I like - to the point where my shame is like a person sitting behind my eyes judging me and I’ve just named it my Shame Passenger - so reclaiming ‘self-indulgent’ for myself was a really massive step forward. I still have to very consciously pick it up and direct it the other way sometimes, but very often now, it goes that way on its own! I can’t even tell you what a huge change it is for me to draw whatever I want in my sketchbooks and not just shut down the minute I feel like it’s outside of what would be ‘accepted’ for any number of reasons. It’s incredible.
I hope the same happens for you and I’m really glad my post helped.
(And thank you for the comment about my work, that’s very nice of you to say!)
YOU CANNOT RESIST THE FANGS.

I really have been immeasurably happier since I started catching myself thinking of ‘self-indulgent’ as a bad thing and consciously rerouting it to a positive. That used to be one of the biggest ways I could tell myself something was shameful and useless, but now, fuck that. I deserve to be indulged, and I see no reason I should not be the one to do it.

To be honest, it’s only a matter of time (and probably humidity) before I shave off all the hair on the other side of my head too and just end up with legit Banshee hair.
Greek necklace with a butterfly pendant. Late 2nd-1st century BC (Hellenistic), made of gold, amethyst, chalcedony, emerald, rock crystal, pearl, and coloured glass.
Elaborate diadems or necklaces featuring centerpieces of inlaid stones, pendants, and beaded chains go back to 3rd- and 2nd-century Greek jewelry. This necklace was found on the neck of the deceased; as the symbol of the soul, the butterfly was an appropriate motif for a burial gift. Yeah, we can try to work that out! I’d like as many people to come to them as are able, because we have a lot of fun~
To fit you in, I think it would need to be a weekend morningish, because I don’t get back from work on the weekdays until pretty much midnight for you, and my usual timing for these things is the evening because of that. I feel like my noon or one o’clock might be suitable. It’s 6 or 7PM for you, and 9 or 10AM for people on my other coast, which isn’t TOO unreasonable a time to imagine people being awake.
If this sounds like a quality Saturday or Sunday plan to you, we can totally do it!
That sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday evening! So yes, I’d love it if this could work out. And 6PM my time sounds perfect, both for the next weekend and the one after. (Only one potential snag: I’m 37 weeks pregnant at the moment so there’s always a chance I might disappear without warning - but in theory it’s still a bit early for that.) Let me know if you think this is feasible and when you have a concrete date in mind! :D
All good~ I say let’s aim for this Saturday, then, between 12 and 1 for my Eastern Time and your 6 and 7. (That’s the 18th for anyone seeing this later and unsure of when it was posted.)
This is definitely open to everybody! We tend on the side of spoilers for Babylon 5, so make your decisions accordingly. We’ve been known to talk around certain issues in consideration, but one cannot fully Cry Over Londo Mollari without seeing the final reasons to, you feel me?
It’s always kind of ‘between’ times because I never know which component of this set up is going to fail or fuck up, even when I try to do it all in advance. But at least plan for 6 and feel free to show up then and chat with people and I’ll post on tumblr when I’m definitely up and live. The chatting with people is the fun part anyway, I just draw as a conduit for our goofy ideas or to teach things on the side of the collective wailing about aliens.
In the meantime, if people have feelings about what should be drawn, digital/traditional preferences, ideas for how to get two people drawing at once, etc etc, feel free to say so!
“stop setting that stuff up around me as I sleep! I don’t care if you’re doing it for the vine, it’s belittling!”
