Hey, there’s a reason we’re having crying over Londo Mollari parties and not crying over Sheridan ones. You go through my live blog of this show and the entire last few episodes are just ‘Londo? ? Mollari? ? ! ? Also I guess this thing with Sheridan is happening.’

(Especially Vir.) So I haven't read them yet. (But they do have generally good reviews around the internet, so perhaps they're less objectionable if you're not nearly as invested in the Centauri.)
Ah well see that’s my problem with the ending as it stands. I AM heavily invested in the Centauri and Vir in particular. (Too invested or I wouldn’t be so upset). I was bored to stiff by the Earth/teep stuff. My only interest in Sheridan was waiting for him to use what he had learned in the future to save the Centauri… But he just…didn’t. The Centauri were the whole reason I kept watching past the end of Season 3. I’ll glance at summaries of the books but I’m not sure I like the idea of Vir’s characterisation being altered. I really just want to know if he somehow made it out actually OK and if Centauri prime was saved or if Londo’s sacrifice was all for naught….

Seriously, the Centauri trilogy of novels are utter rubbish, contemptable
characterisation, nonsensical plotting, and generally will just leave a
bad taste in your mouth.
Anyway, Vir’s meant to be fine by the
time of the finale; the devistation of Centauri Prime in “War Without
End” was the result of the Drakh being exposed and the ensuing battle
against them. While some of them might have survived and gone
underground, considering how close they came to being exposed twenty
years prior when Londo visited Sheridan and Delenn, I can’t imagine
they’d risk letting Vir leave Centauri Prime again if he was meant to be
their puppet…
(Adds a depressing note to that season one episode where Londo takes Lennier out drinking and gambling, doesn’t it? That little joke, where Londo’s about to get Lennier a drink only to learn alcohol causes psychotic violence in Minbari - if it hadn’t
been for that little detail, Londo might have been freed and exposed
the Drakh long before. Always wondered how long the writer had had that
in mind…)
Yeah I thought about that and wondered why Londo even thought Sheridan would have alcohol on Minbar. Londo doesn’t seem the type to forget that a whole species doesn’t drink. I will avoid the novels as I’m pretty full up on disappointment at the moment. Ugh. Why do I always get so attached to the characters whose stories the writer doesn’t really care that much about? I swear it feels like my friends have died and the police won’t tell me how or why… But they’ll tell me everything about this guy who let them die and how fracking great he is.
I think this was why I sat devastated for a few hours after i finished, and why I still need crying over Londo Mollari parties. I was yelling at every turn after the fall of Centauri prime, ‘but what about Londo? ? ! ? ’ Because I was sure Sheridan or Delenn would DO something!
Most of my devastation came from Londo having sacrificed himself and no one knew somehow! No one thought shit was wack? How do you not pursue what’s up with Londo when you all tried so hard with garibaldi and raised giant flags of suspicion for far less than ‘man’s entire personality seems off, something is questionable about his shoulder, shit is going down the tubes on his planet’. I can sort of believe that they think Londo is just a monster now that he’s emperor, but that a) breaks my heart, and b) seems like something someone would fucking follow up on.
Like, Londo tried to protect vir by sending him away, and G’Kar by doing much the same (plus saying ‘the position changes you’ by way of explaining shit away, but they both knew him so closely at that point. How in the world is vir okay with all this, how does Sheridan just go ‘duuuh, okay’ and ignore it… I thought the ending we saw wouldn’t happen for so long because I thought surely Sheridan, Delenn, Vir, or G’Kar would go to bat for Londo. Like at least G’Kar comes back and offers him mercy, but holy shit.
I was the same as you. My investment was in Londo,Vir, and G’Kar, and they were all magnificent in season 5, but everything that happened around them really wasn’t. Like, Londo delivered, he did his thing as a character, and he was fantastic. Annnnnd everyone else just left him hanging, like a life-ruining high five. Our cast was full of such compassionate people, I’m just so…!
This is why I spend forever just letting Londo and G’Kar frolic together on Centauri Prime.
