I just considered visiting fanfiction.net.

I should probably have that looked at.

lostthehat asked: speaking of sizes, I realized like a month ago that according to their size chart, a man's small from Teefury is basically the woman's xl and on one hand I am not surprised and on the other hand I feel betrayed by this realization.
ladyyatexel answered:

Right?   I feel weirdly the same way.

But also, wtf?   Because on Society6, I’ve purchased a men’s large and a women’s extra large and they both fit about the same, the men’s is just longer and less tight in the armpits.  It’s like they think we’re different species.  and then they’ll charge us more for it

I feel like the printing was more faithful on my men’s shirt versus my women’s shirt, but it was also a different design, so I don’t know if that’s related at all.

But my Garak shirt definitely seems blurrier than my Londo and G’Kar one.  It’s also not as comfortable because women don’t have armpits according to tshirts, I don’t know.

The other problem that you run into with guys shirts is that the collar is so high it feels like you’re being strangled. It’s like…you’re charging us more??? For less fabric??????

YES.  I struggle with this all the time.  Do I want the whole shirt to feel good except the neck, or do I want the neck to be okay but the armpits to be too tight and everything else to be awkward?

You’d think it wouldn’t be a hard choice, but ugh, neckline.

And all the vnecks on society6 looked like the design would be sitting on an awkward spot, so I didn’t get one.  I hope to see some pictures of those to confirm otherwise, not that it makes any difference for this shirt.

I fear I will never properly strike the right balance between golden retriever-esque HELLO WE ARE FRIENDS and some kind of cool, detached sunglass-wearing composure.

I have literally zero desire to watch the new Doctor Who beyond Nine because Matt Smith just sort of repels me for some reason

I might watch some of the old show at some point though? Where would I start, how would I do it, there is a lot of it

Classic Doctor Who is a good fucking time.   I watch the new stuff out of a bizarre sense of loyalty at this point, and I like that Capaldi is kind of a scary motherfucker, but I am most fond of the stuff that happened largely before I was born.  I’ve seen most of it, barring like 80% of the Third and First Doctors and some smattering of the latter bits of the Fourth.  The Second Doctor is my favorite, though admittedly some people find him difficult to watch because so much is missing and black and white, etc etc etc.   What the fuck ever, I say, they are all wrong.  Patrick Troughton is goddamn magnificent as the Second Doctor, and he and his companion Jamie are really joyous to watch, even if the episode they’re in that week is crap.  Many of the actors who played the Doctor after Troughton credited him with aspects of their performance.  He’s got a brilliant mix of childlike wonder and ancient rage, he’s glorious and wonderful.

You’ll get different answers from different people when you ask where to start.  A lot of people recommend the Fourth Doctor, since he’s the longest running, and the most iconic, and thus has a lot to choose from.  I would argue you probably couldn’t go wrong doing that, but I have such fondess for all the Classic Doctors (excepting Three, who makes me alternate between Angry and Bored) that I wouldn’t want you to miss anything.

It can often feel like a totally different show from era to era, so it can be useful to sample everyone.   I wouldn’t have watched the rest of Doctor Who if I was told ‘This is what Classic Who is!” when I’d been shown a typical Third Doctor episode, and then I would have missed out how much I love the Second Doctor (and the Seventh. And the Fourth. And the Eighth.  And and and and etc)

If you’re really interested in getting recommendations for good episodes with each Doctor, almost everyone has a list of which ones they like, and they’re usually all different, haha.  Might be good to scope out someone you think has similar tastes and ask them.  I’d be happy to send you some, and I’m pretty sure I’ve still got a good-sized swarm of Classic Who friends as followers who could rec some for you too!

Okay so far I’ve been told to watch Three and also to not watch Three. This is harder than I was expecting.

And someone else said they’d send me their list of good episodes, so I think I’ll wait for that.

I watched two Four episodes about seven years ago and I don’t remember anything that happened except that it was Romana’s introduction.

Haha, that maybe gives you an idea of how different every era can be!

Three is really heavy on the car chases, and a military organization, and James Bondish action things, and some kung fu whatnot, explosions and gadgets, and all those things just bore me to tears in any media (plus he says super sexist stuff to his companion Jo, and I just can’t get past it), but that might be someone else’s jam in the extreme!  You’ll likely be told that every single Doctor is horrible and every single one is great.

Good luck~

Yes, Garak and Bashir were never in a romantic relationship on the show. I remember being very upset because of it. Looking back though, does it really matter? The show has ended and we are free to create our own fanon now. Any you can bet - in my version they had lots and lots of… romantic moments.
