I feel the same about the stuff on Mars, since it’s generally just more humans. i’m always just like ‘don’t care don’t care, what are the spotted and scaled people doing’

I count the Mars stuff as Earth/human too and file it under ‘do not want.’ It’s almost like the harder they try to make me care about the more I’m like ‘lol nope, aliens.’

Yep, same stuff to me too.  When whole episodes focus on things like ‘Garibaldi goes to Mars’ and then the B-plot is telepaths, I’m really suffering.  

I think there’s a level of 'I know it’s not real’ mixed in to 'it’s not new or interesting’ on the Humans in sci-fi front for me, but particularly Babylon 5, where we spend really no time on Earth.

I’ve never watched any show and been genuinely concerned for the fate of Earth, because I know I’m still sitting on it, and even in a weird future time, it’s just not a real dramatic threat to me.  I’m too firmly sitting here and emphatically not in intergalactic danger to care.

But the fate of some alien planets? Some that have just been made up for this narrative and could be chopped down at a moment’s notice?  Those I care about, those worry me.  Oh no, Cardassia is in ruins!  Aaaa, oh no, don’t hurt Centauri Prime!  I get upset and worried when things are going down on those places.  

There are so many things I think sci-fi should do more or differently, and one thing is definitely ‘who cares about Earth/Humans’.  

I want more alien races that are indifferent to us.  They’re not talking about us like we are giants and special and so amazing, wow, and they’re not calling us filthy cattle either.  Just people who are like, ‘oh hey, a human. cool.’

There must be people who can’t invest somehow if there are no human characters, but I almost always just find the humans to be a complete bore, and in B5′s case, giving some of them freaky mind powers only made them MORE boring to me.   I already know how human politics work, and I don’t care that it’s still going on in 300 years.  I want to see alien people do all this stuff.  

I want to see hybrids who aren’t half-Human!  We have Ziyal in DS9 for a short time and thennnn I don’t know.   But holy cow, look at all these people and how cool they are, let’s just MIX ALL OF THEM, why are we talking about humans when we could be mixing Cardassians and Klingons and Minbari and Narn and Let’s Have a Spinoff About Hybrids wow I would groove to that so hard, no humans allowed.  

This got really out of hand, I’m sorry.  This won’t stop me from posting it, but wow I just let go, evidently.

the wardrobe stuff is more obvious, but the treatment of his eyes changes appropriately through the seasons, and I want to just catalog it for some reason
