This was after she came to me in a panic asking if a daily admission for a con would be enough to see him or if she needed to pay more for his panel, poor thing.
My Grandmother, who has never been to a convention and is going to her first one in September, just in time for her birthday (she's in her mid 70s):
I think when I meet him, I'm going to wear my James Marsters shirt, and my James Marsters watch - not everyone has a James Marsters watch, you understand - and I'm going to get my picture taken with him, do you think they'll let me do that?
Me:
They should, you'll probably just have to pay for it. Fifteen dollars maybe?
Grandmother:
Oh, well I can do that. Good. Boy, I bet not many people have a grandmother who is out of her gourd like this.
Me:
It's okay, Grandmother, we're the same kind of 'out of her gourd'. I was up at midnight on Sunday night buying Babylon 5 action figures.
Grandmother:
OH, OH, OH, Babylon 5, Oh, I loved that program! I saw Bruce on TV the other day and I thought, "Oh, I haven't seen you since Babylon 5!" You know who I liked on that show? He wasn't really a main character, but I just loved him: Vir.
Me:
Ooohhhhhh noooooo, Vir, oh, I LOVE Vir, he is precious.
Grandmother:
Wasn't he, though? Just as sweet as can be, and oh, oh, and who was the fellow he was working for. L- Lan-
Me:
*restrained sigh* Londo Mollari.
Grandmother:
LONDO MOLLARI. OH, he was good, wasn't he?
Me:
He was the one I was buying an action figure of.
Grandmother:
Oh, we are kindred spirits, aren't we?
Me:
We so are.

My grandmother just called me to tell me that she’s really excited to meet the guy who played Spike on Buffy at a convention, and she’s just shrieking about it and now she’s asking for con advice
this is the one that had the babylon 5 action figures when i was a kid, so i come by this shit honestly

In exciting plastic news, Neon G'Kar has arrived in my state, at least. Plastic Londo has not been heard from since Virginia.
Both tracking things are saying delivery by tomorrow, and now I’ve gone from, ‘haha, that would be awkward’ to 'omg please come tomorrow, i want to take pictures of them with daleks’
Working from home and also legitimately dreading the thought of Londo Mollari ever shedding a tear

I just watched the TNG episode “Who Watches the Watchers,” and I must say, it was one of the finest pieces of science fiction I have ever seen, and one of the most important messages in all of fiction itself.
It moved me nearly to tears.
It was nice to see the promotion of knowledge, understanding, and the dispelling of superstition being lauded as the right, fair, and ONLY thing to do rather than nonsensical beliefs and fairy tales that only cause harm and hatred being “respected” for no good reason.
