Fuck, I am so blearily conscious, I feel like a person made of goo.  Was gonna try to write or paint today, but I might just ooze across the floor instead.

And I’m going to the symphony tonight to listen to sci-fi music (one of the things they’re playing is some kind of history of star trek, and if DS9 gets shafted once again, I will be a deep frown). The event is hosted by George Takei.  I am a winner.

Garak and sweets

mydearmrgarak:

Heh. So. I have a headcanon thing that Julian bugs Garak to celebrate Christmas with him and Garak’s like that’s stupid why would I celebrate a Terran holiday but…
After realizing about Christmas cookies, and sweets, and holiday themed treats Garak is like oh yes I like this Christmas thing.
And he makes a stupid looking sweater for Julian to wear every year Then Julian is like-
“How about Halloween? Dress up and get candy. Easter? Marshmallow duckies and chocolate bunnies.”
Garak is like… maybe some aspects of Terran culture are okay. It seems like they just use holidays as an excuse to eat sweets and I am okay with this.
“Is today a holiday, my dear doctor?”
“Um… oh yes. It’s Columbus day. I’m not certain why we still celebrate it, Columbus was a barbarian who—”
“Perfect! Let’s have sweets!”
“Garak, no one has sweets for Columbus day.”
“Shhhhhhh have some chocolate my dear and be quiet.”

Man, I feel like I have been hit by seven kinds of traffic this morning, but concert was Yay.

I even bought a fucking tshirt.  I don’t think I’ve ever done that? Baby’s first band shirt, haha.

It’s always so weird to see the kinds of bands that get put up to open for the band you go to see.  They’re always sort of a facet of what you like about the people you came to see, but never quite right.   I think the Shiny Toy Guns concert I went to was particularly like that, since they have some really diverse facets.

Birthday Massacre’s openers, predictably, was a lot of people screaming and just blasting senseless guitars and asking everyone to put their middle fingers in the air?  Like, really, are we 14?

Though the act I mentioned last night with the guy dressed as a silver sherpa with an R2D2 backpack was actually the best of the opening people. He was later accompanied by two white girls apparently cosplaying as Mana, a woman painting, and a man painted white and wearing a giant paper mache alien/geisha head.  Who someone else then painted while they sang.  They were Australian and occasionally I could hear a tune?

Birthday Massacre was fantastic though.  They’re so happy to be there, they’re having fun together and teasing each other, and their music sounds fantastic live and on the CD.  My cousin was so happy to be there too and she got so excited when they played ‘Blue.’   I was just delighted that Red Stars was the opener.  I have this thing, this ideal, that I’d love to see all my SWAN songs live, and the last time I saw Birthday Massacre, I couldn’t remember if Red Stars had been among the set they did because I wasn’t as familiar with it.    But we’re covered now~   And they played all my favorites from the new album, and of course did Video Kid and made the whole place start screaming when the opening 8-bit blips started.

I love those people, the things they make make me so happy that I make things.   Totally worth sitting through two and a half hours of shit I did not care about for!
