Trying to psyche myself up even before the hour and a half drive to make sure I properly respond to the overly aggressive assholes at this fingerprinting place. Correcting anyone who calls me sweetheart and standing up to treatment I think is rude is the name of the game today. After all, there’s nothing on the line but a job I don’t want.
I feel weirdly Ariel giving her voice to Ursula about putting my fingerprints on file, and I don’t even get amazing legs out of the deal.

one of the most vindicating moments of my existence was watching Garak’s first episode with my (non-shipping and non-trekkie) boyfriend (who had seen the first couple episodes prior to this). his INSTANTANEOUS reaction was “holy shit I thought you were exaggerating”
when Julian was being weird about Garak potentially being after state secrets, he yelled “your DICK is NOT A STATE SECRET” at the screen
I still remember my ex and I pausing the show after Garak’s first scene and looking at each other, baffled, and both saying something like, “Was that the gayest thing you’ve ever seen or was it just me??”
When he came back a season later, we had been just about ready to shrug the show off and then we saw his name in the credits and yelled, ‘YAY, THE GAY CARDASSIAN IS BACK’.

Cuteness inspired aggression is widespread.

You’re not alone.
Rebecca Dyer and Oriana Aragon, graduate students in psychology, brought subjects into a lab, handed them a fresh sheet of bubble wrap, and exposed them to cute, funny, and neutral pictures of animals. Those who saw the cute ones popped significantly more bubbles than the others.
Cute things make us aggressive! It’s why we say things like: “I just wanna eat you up!” and why we have to restrain ourselves from giving our pets an uncomfortably tight hug.
Which one do you want to hurt the most!?
An aggressive response to cuteness, it appears, it “completely normal.”
The authors suggest that humans non-consciously balance extreme emotions with one from the other side of the spectrum to try to maintain some control and balance. This, Aragon explains at her website, may be why we cry when we’re really happy and laugh at funerals.
In the meantime, if this makes you want to inflict some serious squishing, know that you’re in good company.

The last in the set of commissioned window sitters/Otaku Mascots from Tinsnip is an ‘Our Man Bashir’-style pile of flirting.
I’m serious, this is like 90% flirting and 2 times out of 3, it is well received.
Download these two here. (Save as~ Clicking gets you jibberish text~) They’re an Otaku Mascot file, so you will need this small program to run them on any Windows operating system.
Oh wow.
Question though: I have Otaku Mascot on my laptop but I can’t get these guys to work on it. Can someone who maybe knows about the program give me instructions/advice or something?Or not, whatever.
What are they doing or not doing for you?
I just got the program recently so I’m not really sure how it works, but when I downloaded the mascot it ended up as an HTML file, which doesn’t seem to work with the program.
Is there a way to convert it to the correct file type (whatever it is)? Or maybe it is supposed to be HTML and I’ve messed up somehow differently.
Well, now that you have the program, your computer should recognize these guys when you download them, but in any case, they should be a ’.mascot’ file rather than a ’.HTML’. So try changing the tag to .mascot. If that doesn’t work, do another ‘save as’ on the link in this post and see what options it gives you for saving it as.
(Also, you want to use 'open published mascot’ rather than 'open mascot’ in the program’s menu once you get to that point!)
If none of those things works, let me know, and I can send you the file directly!
