What ho, what ho, what ho~
Not yet. I ended up just finishing what I had downloaded of Defiance since I already knew enough about it (people’s voices/general motivations/etc) that I didn’t have to be watching it very closely. My level of disdain for the entire show is equal to or perhaps surpassed by my love for that show’s doctor, it’s a dilemma. I need to start some sort of support group or something. Like, she is glorious to the point that I want to paint her and I want a beautiful grumpy fashion doll of her (I could sew her clothing from some bubble wrap and an old oven mitt!) and if the show were about her, it would be the best show ever, but the rest of the show makes me roll my eyes so hard I threaten to sever my optic nerves.
ANYWAY, since my cat died and all this other junk happened, I haven’t started anything new ‘officially’ yet. But I want to!
I turned on Babylon 5 for maybe 5 or ten minutes this afternoon, thinking I could paint to it, but the sheer force of 90’s stilted dialog was too much for me to handle while painting and I was being unfair to it for not being DS9. (I think everything is going to be disappointingly not DS9? It has ruined me~) It’s obvious they’re from the same stock, which I’d heard before, but I did not know it was SO evident. In the first episode all the B5 and DS9 characters are almost hilariously parody-level direct parallels of each other, just 100% whiter, and I just had to turn it off. I know it’s the first episode, and I grew up watching bits of it with my dad and grandmother (she had all the action figures in her kitchen), so I want to give that another proper go when I’m not trying to work on something.
I have just a little bit to go on my art show painting tonight, so I may try B5 again or give Farscape a whirl. You folks on Tumblr will be the first to hear back on my reports from the Other Sci-Fi Stuff front!
