I actually answered a call from a student loan company today but left my music blaring when I did it. Normally, the person on the other end tries their damndest to talk anyway when the phone ‘accidentally’ answers like that, but when faced with Poland’s song from Eurovision this year, they hung up immediately.
I am cackling.
“‘It was a most prudent act on your part, if I may say so, sir, to dispose of the orange juice.’
I stared at the man.
‘What? Didn’t you?’
'No, sir.’
'Jeeves, let us get this clear. Was it not you who threw away that o.j.?’
'No, sir. I assumed, when I entered the room and found the pitcher empty, that you had done so.’
We looked at each other, awed. Two minds with but a single thought.
'I very much fear, sir —’
'So do I, Jeeves.'”

Nine years ago, Japanese photographer Miyoko Ihara began snapping pictures of the relationship between her grandmother and her odd-eyed white cat. Miyoko’s grandma Misao found the abandoned cat in a shed on her land and the pair have barely been apart since. Misao named the white cat “Fukumaru” in hope the “God of fuku (good fortune) comes and everything will be smoothed over like maru (circle)”. Fukumaru is always in Misao’s shadow whether she is farming her land, having a bath, eating or sleeping. Now nearly a decade later their friendship and adventures have been documented by Miyoko in a photo book called Misao the Big Mama and Fukumaru the Cat.
