I saw Maleficent today with my mom and my aunt and was stunned that it was SO MUCH better than I was even expecting?? I thought I would enjoy it because I love stories like this that make you root for the ‘villain’, I don’t even care if it’s cheesy at this point, but I enjoyed this like 100 times more than I thought I would. At not a single point was I groaning or bored or waiting for something to happen. SO, if you were expecting to have to sit through something like 'A man causes all this pain and is the only reason she’s a badass and then a man/a sexist trope fixes it allll’, worry the fuck not. Seriously, the men are props in this movie. I was so overwhelmed by just how relaxed I was all through it because so one was being sexually harassed or 'redeemed’ into something demure and docile.
If you were side-eyeing it for any kind of Bechdel test-ish reasons, go forth in comfort my friends.
This is the first commission-requiring-communication that I think I’ve ever taken from a non-fandom person or someone I did not meet at work or something, and it’s a picture of their KID, so all the communication has this terrible tension for me like ‘fuck, you have no previously established investment in my work nor do you know what I usually do beyond small sparkly children so you have no reason to just trust that i’ll be amazing’ and so all the messages are like, “Extreme Business Mode Lady”
(In case anyone is interested, no, I’m not quite open for general commissions at the moment. This one is sort of a special case. I’ll make a big fancy post when I’m opened up again.)
