i didnt watch yugioh as a kid so i have no experience with the 4kids “shadow realm” thing but i remember an episode of danny phantom where the characters sent a villain to an empty void with “one way in, no way out” and it fucked me up so much i had nightmares about it because i ruminated on the concept so much. the existential dread of a fate worse than death was NOT easier for me to process than actual death what the hell were those studio execs thinking
okay now imagine the whole series is about that stuff.
i guess that explains why ive never met a yugioh fan that wasnt mentally ill
The funny thing about all those “Tumblr is back” articles is that if you’re active on here you’d have no idea if it even suffered a dip in popularity at all; it’s the most insular social media platform. Unlike Twitter or Instagram there really isn’t a “trending” feature that people look at or care about, you just exist in your own bubble, so for all you know outside of your handful of mutuals there could be zero other active blogs on here or a million.
