He believes, quote, this issue did not live up to our usual high standards, unquote.
What’s that supposed to mean?
It means he didn’t like it. Which means the public will simply going to have to get along without any Incredible Tales this month.
I’ve always loved that they gave Shimerman the ally role and Auberjonois the “its just the way the world is, deal with it” role.
Quark 4 lyfe
do you think Sisko felt kind of weird around Odo for a couple of weeks after he woke up
“Major, do you have any idea if I’ve done something to…offend the Captain?”
“He says you were a racist asshole in his coma dream. Don’t worry, he’ll get over it.”
That’s one of the great things about “Far Beyond the Stars”; we really respect Odo for being a paragon. While his need for justice fights for his desire for order, it’s still based on it. “Things Past” shows that sometimes, he is angry at the Bajorans for being unruly and messy when they’re fighting for justice. Pabst is in character for Odo.
Because you had TNG bebopping safely around the universe with Jean Luc Picard as the benign authoritarian figure who told folks to calm down and let authority work out their problems. Sure, there were exceptions, where Picard bucks authority to do the right thing, but it’s generally an appeal to authority.
Quark is a criminal in the eyes of The Federation. He has an ideology which makes most Starfleet officers despise and distrust him. We don’t like Quark and most of his adventures aren’t treated seriously. Even when he sincerely cares about something it’s played for laughs because, hey, it’s only Quark.
Later TNG is big on, but not necessarily all about, peddling a soft, beige message about “not being mean,” “never letting your emotions get in the way,” and “obeying the law even if you don’t like it.”
For a pedigree that’s so steeped in loving order and hating crime, “Far Beyond the Stars” knew how to leverage the integrity of breaking the law and cowardliness of hiding behind it.
omg its definitely a bit harsh but I’m going to describe TNG as “soft, beige authoritarianism bebopping safely around the universe” for the rest of my life, thank you for that.
