Well, here is a good portion of the crap that’s been building up in the margins of my sketchbook and on random paper at work and wherever else. It’s not all of it, because some of it is especially ugly, incomprehensible, or both. Granted these are all doodles, so none of them are high art or anything, but those were particularly bad. SO THESE ONES AREN’T, IS THE IMPLICATION. Take that as you will.
A weird bunch of circumstances means I don’t have time to talk about these today as much as I wanted to, but I’m gonna try to go through them, because I just want to enjoy something today without hospital visits and my tumblr theme going nuclear.
SO HERE WE GO. Image captions, but also me being wordy as fuck, yay.
FIRST UP is dancing time, because I like drawing people formally dancing about as much as I don’t like formally dancing. This came from more of keeping G'Kar on Centauri Prime for a long time (I think all of these do, let’s just be honest) and he and Londo finding a lot of ways to be a giant pain in the ass of everyone in the palace without actually getting themselves killed. So teach this Narn to dance some very old and traditional Centauri dance, and have it not be as a mockery or a jester, but actually have him dance with someone of significant status. He’s not super jazzed about learning it in the top drawing with the ‘No, no, the other foot’, but he gets it. Because I say so and I do what I want, fuck everything.
This is going to angrier commentary than I anticipated. MOVING ON.
And THEN because I was enamored with weird attempts to share culture as a way to be obnoxious to the court and also maybe be radder people in general? I thought, 'Yay, let’s learn languages~!’ I felt pretty sure G'Kar would have already learned Centauri, but I’m not sure any fancy education would have ever made it necessary for Londo to learn Narn, especially given their opinion of the people themselves. Though maybe I’m wrong and I’ve forgotten if this was a plot point. I don’t care, I’m still angry about things. I actually have some fun dialog for that idea (G'Kar finding Londo’s high born Centauri accent hilarious when speaking super common Narn), but I’m going to save it for when I have an image that actually looks more like what it’s meant to be and has a G'Kar head that is not an awful afterthought.
The next one is LAUGHING, because WOW, I like people laughing together. This is from something like G'Kar doing or saying something that gets a bunch of people really riled up and there is a need for immediate fleeing around a corner both because these people are sort of hostile and because they both think it’s hilarious and Londo needs to not lose massive face in front of these people. So it’s like G'Kar has steered him out of the room, trying not to laugh until safely in some random hallway full of paintings, hands braced on shoulders, etc etc. I drew a full body one that was super super super tiny and the only decent thing on an entire page, so I didn’t scan it. I might do a big one some day. I really like laughing. People sharing a joke and being super in tune with each other is My Jam.
PJs and vaguely annoyed expressions, I don’t know. I said 'sleepover’ on here once and then I was gone and just wanted like a sleepover with the entire ambassadorial wing. But I just drew these two because of course I did.
A Baby Bean Bag Londo, like my Garaks of the same style. I kept the scribbling around him because I liked that he was next to me making a list of things I needed to work on (DD9 and SWAN), and then that the caption was just 'uh oh’.
Londo takes Vir’s weird space Game Boy. “Where did you get this?” "Vir.“ "Don’t you have something better to do?” "Don’t YOU?“ Much in the same vein as Bashir and Garak playing katamari that I did years ago.
The one below is more palace nonsense - "I don’t think anyone saw us.” "That doesn’t matter, they’ll suspect you anyway.“
Annnnnnnd then some impossible trash thing with vaguely Emperor Londo and G'Kar is still fucking there but going on some kind of weird space vacation for a bit and left Na'Toth there to do his bodyguard nonsense while he’s away. I kind of then became really snickery about G'Kar being worried that they’d murder each other after too long and then them actually being cool and weirdly bonding after Londo is able to quietly make horrible comments about people in the palace to her in Narn.
THIS IS THE SHIT THAT HAPPENS IN MY SKETCHBOOK.
