Aww, no need to apologize~ I like when people actually interact with me, haha. And thanks for the offer, but I’ve actually got it, I’ve just never watched it! Same with all the movies, actually. one glorious day.
:) As do I.
I actually REALLY enjoyed the pilot movie. It’s got some great Londo in it and G’Kar flounces at, like, mach 10. Everyone is so awkward and unrefined in both look and character, yet they’re somehow the same people. It’s like looking at a good friend’s highschool photos and laughing at their dumb haircut together.
That’s fascinating, I love this analogy.
I’ve been doing a rewatch with my friend tinsnip (well, it’s her first watch, and my rewatch
jesusfuck i just finished it and i’m going again), and I’ve been finding the early versions of the characters to be almost distressing! The first few episodes, and even starting into Season 2, I’m sitting here saying stuff like, ‘Wow, please just trust me about G’Kar’ all the time. I had forgotten how far he came, and how much my feelings for him (and pretty much everyone) changed!Definitely one of the biggest comments I get from people who are watching this show because of me, “I am not sure what you see in G’Kar, but I’m just gonna keep going…” Because, yeah, wow, that man is some High Octane Flounce early on. I’ll have to brace myself for mach 10.
I find pilot Delenn fascinating though, I really wish they’d been able to do what they wanted with it. I think about what we might have seen if that had gone off the original way.
And then pilot Londo and G’Kar are terrifying looking, but in different ways.
One glorious day, I will do this thing.
The same thing happened with me and @newtypeshadow, I finished the show and I was like “FRIEND YOU WILL BE SUBJECTED — SIT YOURSELF DOWN THIS IS GOING TO TAKE 130 HOURS” We just finished Season 2 disk 1 Sunday and I find myself saying the same things about Londo with her, assuring her my love does not land idly even if he’s being a royal idiot right now. I call it the B5 Disease. Everyone I know catches it and then forces it onto someone else like the best kind of mono.
I feel for Mira considering the pilot. She was very upset by how much they changed her appearance (and originally her voice) so I can kinda get behind her protesting… and if all the Na’toth’s are to be believed, wearing full makeup is a bear and a half, which means we should give Andreas Katsulas even more props than we already give him for not only wearing full makeup but acting so well through it every single scene. Plus all those background dudes who don’t even get a line but wake up at 5am to go full Drazi. For all I know, the same guy appeared every week to glue plastic to his face and walk back and forth in the hallway, never saying a word.
AUGH, Yes, the number of times I have stopped and been like, ‘Um, please trust me,” is ASTRONOMICAL. I’ve been like ‘No, no, you know I’m not casual with my love for shit, you know me, I have a good reason for this, please just Trust Me, pleasewearefriendsohgod” so many times about Londo and G’Kar individually, but also that I’m just like, ‘Yay, omg, this relationship!’ because mostly, early on, it just looks like ‘oh. ha. ha. it’s two guys who are flouncy and hate each other. Really, Lady?’
and then I have to shrivel and die a little
Yeah, any interviews I see, someone inevitably mentions Andreas being amazing on his own, but then how incredible it is that he’s just as amazing under ten pounds of latex, so I think about the makeup stuff all the time while I’m watching now.
