“Rock on the bones"

Part of the Russian Stilyagi subculture; a youth subculture from the 1940s - early 1960s in the former Soviet Union.

Since Western music was banned in those days of communist totalitarianism, music-loving and slightly rebellious youngsters were forced to think very much outside the box in order to make bootlegs of their favourite banned records. People started making records on developed X-ray films, resulting in the rather fascinating pieces of not-exactly-vinyl you see above.

If you got caught for manufacturing or distributing such recordings though, you could receive three to five years of imprisonment in labour camps. Not all that nice.

I hadn’t heard about the Stilyagi until today, but the Wiki article on them is very fascinating

This is all kinds of amazing.
