I have clearly developed some kind of pavlovian Terror response to even the sound of my car starting up because even though I know it isn’t going to Rattle I still feel this Terror seize me down in my core when i turn the car on or have to sit at a red light
I sure do hate cars

this may sound silly, but it might help to think of your car as a friend who has been sick for a while? talk to it? “i’m glad you’re feeling better” every time you remember that it’s not going to make those sounds anymore. Thank it for getting you places safely. Buy a new air freshener or floor mats. basically, manufacture good feelings to counter your anxiety.
