Anonymous asked: I suggest just doing a wig instead of bothering rerooting so you can get right into the painting
ladyyatexel answered:

I have never made a doll wig!  I am intrigued by the idea - especially for my beautiful ball jointed nightmare - and even have hair wefts that won’t really work well with the reroot method I have the patience for, but have been wimpy about trying for some reason.

Maybe not-Malibu not-Stacey could be a first.

I also really wish I were a yarn hoarder despite doing no crafts that require it because I want to try yarn rerooting a lot.  My girlfriend has suggested I learn to knit while I’m there since we all know I’ll just start squirreling away rainbow yarn like some big gay crafty dragon regardless.

When I first got into using yarn for doll hair, I bought some of the “fiber  for scrapbooking use” variety packs, like this  https://www.etsy.com/listing/251847400/scrap-book-fibers6-assorted-fiber-and  –although trying to look up examples now, I’m not sure if they’re as common as they were in, like, 2004.

I have loads of textured yarn and would be happy to send you some if you like!

I would not fight you if you wanted to send yarn either!

I like the look of that textured stuff! Is that generally better to use than just any old …pill-shaped cluster… of it?
It certainly looks like less of a commitment on those cards like that as far as space or discovering I hate the look of it plastered to a doll.
