So, for anyone who ever wants to try to draw characters from the late 80s and early 90s, make a note of how the shirt here is even tucked into a pair of leggings.  We tucked everything in–even big baggy t-shirts–and that meant belts were an important accessory (it’s actually weird that there’s no belt here.)  And note that the leggings themselves are tucked into the socks/low shoes. (I remember everyone carefully folding the cuffs of their baggy jeans to fit into their carefully slouched socks after gym class in junior high around 1987.)

It wasn’t until Grunge was established (by about 1993) that things got untucked and pretty much never went back.
