So…it’s been a long two weeks.
Thank you so much to @bendingsignpost, who completely without being asked, took up the role of donations manager while I was dealing with all of scheduling and logistics that come with having a sick cat but no car. Also all the crying.
Here’s the short version of what happened: between January 22, 2019 and February 1, 2019, I was hit with well over $3000 CAD of vet bills for my cat, Cici. While my province doesn’t officially recognise emotional support animals, that’s essentially what she is to me.
However, since I’m underemployed and disabled (and have spent more than a year now fighting to get on disability), it’s looking very likely that I will have to give up Cici. I have two different vet practice managers looking for options on my behalf to keep that from happening, and I located and signed up with a pet food bank earlier this week, but…I can’t afford this again. And there’s no guarantee that she’ll be fine from now on.
But who will want a 16-year-old cat on multiple medications?
A donation link will be in the reblogs if anyone wants to help me try to at least pull together something, because that was…a lot of rent money. I’ll be putting together a fandom-related sales post probably in the next couple of weeks as well.

An update, because of course:
Yesterday night (February 3), I got a call from the animal hospital. They had the results of the urine sample back, and it turns out Cici has a whole load of bacteria in her urine. They’re thinking she had a urinary tract infection at one point that travelled up to her kidneys.
Luckily, it’s treatable by antibiotics, which won’t cost much more than $20 CAD, but, just…Cici.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and signal boosted so far, because now I won’t have to worry about covering the cost of the antibiotics. It’s very, very appreciated.
