Alongside accumulating short-term positive emotion, a part of DBT is learning how to accumulate positive emotion in the long-run. With AvPD specifically, this can be very difficult because often we avoid ourselves and our lives. This part of DBT is about slowly building a person and a life that you don’t have to flee from, and can provide you foundation in the future.
