This is actually my grandparents, and this is the house and the grandmother that have led to me even owning these photos, which is weird to think about. She’s the daughter of Kaye, the keeper of these albums. I hadn’t been able to see resemblance between me and my grandmother before because she looks so different here than she has in my lifetime, but now I can definitely see it.
I had no idea the walls in this house were ever red. All my life, they’ve been cornflower blue.
I also have no idea why they were looking vaguely in opposite directions for this photo. Another burning mystery to ask Grandmother next time I see her, perhaps.
Grandmother reports that when she bought this house, not only was this living room red, oh no, the Entire House Except The Kitchen was this color.
Her hair in this photo is also a wig, which she told me she bought explicitly so she would look good in the hospital when she had my dad.
