I’m very happy about your newest Esmeralda’s more movie accurate skin tone especially.
Me too! I was really interested to see how she’d look compared to the others when I saw her photos online. You have to wonder about how things look in different light, you know? I was pretty sure she’d be darker than the 90s Mattel ones, but I’m really glad to be right. Next to my other 90s Disney dolls, 90s Esmeraldas look dark and you’re like, ‘Yeah, that tracks,’ but it’s just because the other dolls are So Light.
I lost my 90s Jasmine when my dad purged everything I couldn’t smuggle to my mother’s, but one day I’d like to get her again and see how she compares too. My Disneyland Jasmine from two years ago looks even slightly lighter than 90s Esmeralda. 90s Esmeralda is warmer toned than Kida, but they are both about the same level of darkness. Disney is no stranger to whitening their characters both then and now, but it’s nice to see them managing to get one nicely done.
