Unless I hear something today I think I’m going to have to put my foot down on Monday

They’re telling us we’re supposed to return to the office on Monday. I don’t think this is safe for so many reasons.

One of the biggest among them is that they don’t clean our office. It’s to the point where it is a running joke in the office that you don’t use one of the bathrooms because the floor is so sticky that you won’t be able to pull yourself off.

The work we are expected to do is sharing telephones and touch screens with several other people all day. We will spend half the day Terror Sanitizing everything every five minutes.

I work for a state agency and the state has mandated that things be closed until the 30th. My mother works for a different state agency and she and all of her staff are working from home with the proper equipment and she says everything is running as though they’re in the office. I’ve been at home doing no work for two weeks, although I have been getting paid for it which is incredibly lucky. I hate that job, I don’t really want to go back to it at all. But I’m not going to be locked in that office for hours when there’s information saying that we’ve got asymptomatic carriers and we should probably all wear masks and no one ever sterilizes our bathrooms. The week when I ripped my knee open I went into the cleanest bathroom to get myself taking care of before I went to get stitches. My leggings were bloody and I got some on my boots and on the floor where I set them aside. That was on a Thursday. I returned to work Monday morning and my blood was still on the floor.

Give me two monitors, a keyboard, and a VPN and I should be able to do the work you need from home like every other agency. All of our systems and technology are outdated. I am not sure why my health and safety is worth less than two shitty old monitors.

So I think I will be risking quite a bit employment wise by not going in Monday if they don’t get something revised, but I will not die for State Parole.
