Hi, for no reason in particular have you gotten into bad hair habits lately? Things like going to bed with your hair wet, being super stressed out, not changing your sheets and pillow cases at all, or constantly running your hands through your hair.

Is your hair now suddenly greasy? I just washed it and the grease has returned/never left.

If fixing those habits, rinse and repeat, and waiting hasn’t worked, you might have (scalp dermatitis) Excess Yeast, Yay!

Your scalp is skin, the skin has yeast, the air has yeast, and if given enough time it will try to live anywhere, including your head. All the more if you give it a nice damp place to live. If it’s an infection you might have itchiness, redness, stuff that looks like dandruff, etc. But even if it’s not infected your head just might dislike excess yeast and pump out a lot of oil to protect itself.

A lot of hair products to prevent dandruff have this in mind and include stuff like tea tree, acids, or coconut oil.

Please don’t just dump the ingredients onto your head; though coconut oil is probably fine. Instead get the shampoo, or get everyone’s favourite home remedy for yeast and dilute apple vinegar: one tablespoon per about cup of water and use that for a small rinse. Your scalp is usually a little acidic so helping it along will usually drop some of that oil production. Wash your hair as normal and Voilà; your hair is back to its routine.
