Her lips are too dark now that I see her next to her blond cousin clone. I had wanted to do something a little bit different but this looks like too much. Alas.

Her hairstyle is also kind of limited to the shape it’s in because of how much a previous owner had hacked off of it.

We try again soon.

Tbh it looks like the blonde is actually faded since dolls of this era, mint condition ones, tend to have significantly rosy lips and cheeks, and the more coral/lighter make up is a result of the red pigment fading and.leaving behind the yellower pigment. You can sort of see what her true lip colour should have been by the pink highlight in her eyes due to the limited colour palette.

The redhead looks closer to what these dolls would have looked like new but I can understand why you fallened in love with the blonde’s current colours and wanted a second doll to match.

I know they’re faded; red head’s lips started out straight up yellow and my third one is much more peachy, ( to say nothing of all the 60s and 70s Barbie heads clogging up all of my drawers) so I’ve seen the spectrum, haha. There also isn’t any pink in the original eye paint, I added it here.

My intent wasn’t to make a doll that matched the blonde’s exact look, red head just looked a little like her hair and her lips were sending conflicting age messages and her vibe isn’t quite what I was aiming for when I got her into the other room and compared her to the others. I was aiming for darker lips, but it didn’t line up the way I envisioned it gelling with the others, that’s all.
