wh….. what

Me: is it a good time to sell my extra Shadow Weaver set? Probably not, since everyone’s on lockdown and can’t buy stuff.

Also me: sees this, immediately goes to price check

Yeah I went and checked prices on listings that actually sold and it’s about $20-$25/doll regardless of character.

Lol, I nearly bought a second set on clearance for customs purposes, but stopped at only getting Bow because I had a specific use for him and I didn’t want to take the opportunity for kiddos to get She-Ra dolls for cheap.

But seeing this, holy crap! Why didn’t people buy these when they were shelf warming?? We (probably) could have gotten more characters made if people had only bought them then… And don’t say it is because people didn’t know they existed. She-Ra, the VA’s, and Mattel’s social media account posted about them like crazy and Target had a She-Ra portal in their app… They also had a mini-press conference that announced them along with new info about the show…

Granted the dolls are far from perfect so maybe that kept people from buying them at the time and now people are seeking them out since the show is over?

So I’ve been watching listings for these dolls in particular for a long time, and before the show ended, the $20-$35 price range is what I’d see them actually sell for.

And then the show ended.  You can still get Bow and Glimmer and especially She-Ra herself for reasonable prices.  Adora is iffy, but Catra?

The moment Catra and Adora full on kissed and saved their world, the price of Catra quadrupled.  Actual sold listings can be found from $150 - $300 on eBay since mid-May, when the show completed.   Before that, Catra was selling for the same range as the rest of the crew.   There’s like a visible line in the sold listings on eBay.

I’ve seen listings for both the Adora and Catra dolls in a lot go up listed with the shipname and sell for well over $300.

I think there’s a lot of people suddenly seeing that this actually WAS as gay as they had hoped sparked interest in owning the world-saving gay kiss couple.

I had wanted a second Catra to do custom things with (glitchy Catra!) but I never saw her available again after I bought my whole crew.  It was always just a million of She-Ra.
