what a beautiful photo!Isn’t it cute? It looks like a composed postcard image or something, I love it. I should take a photo of what it looks like in real life.

Here it is for real front and back, along with the other really cute one from the same batch of glass negatives, featuring the same pair and a third friend or relative. These were almost thrown away when people were cleaning my grandmother’s house because the case they were in was just so nondescript. As with all the photos I obtained from the mass extinction event that hit my grandmother’s house, my intent is to scan and preserve things that are fragile and subject to deterioration especially. A scratch on one of these images is pretty likely, so I’m scanning everything within an inch of its life. I keep getting error messages saying the file is too large to save haha
The other glass negatives are kind of boring and uninspiring because it’s like three photos of a naked baby on a porch and two photos of a small child holding chicken or a turkey. The kids are a little interesting because of their outfits but the images are pretty blown out. And all babies look the same to me, so the only real interest I have in the photos is the house in the background actually, haha
It is really wild to look at the rest of the stack though because it’s like somebody was taking cell phone photos - they are all from different angles and slightly different poses like they were really trying angles and such out, but it’s on glass negatives which doesn’t strike me as like a super casual disposable way to photograph. It was like they could take seven photos and they took three of the baby from almost the exact same angle, two children holding a bird, and then these absolutely precious postcards in the woods.
I would love to find out who these cuties are someday, regardless!
