Thank you for that!! I really with The Doll Planet had softer nylon, because hers is absolutely gorgeous - but it will only take a boil curl, which means it’s harder than MLP hair. If you want stick-straight styles, hers is awesome, and she seems like a really nice person! I’ve also spoken to DollTress, and I *think* her nylon is softer/cold-curl-able, I just have to actually … work with it. She seems very nice as a person, too!
RetroDollsUS actually reached out to me personally and offered me her shop links, and added that she’s inclusive of everyone, and finds the St*rmfront posts (whether they are actually from Tina or not) abhorrent. So that was very pleasant! Shout out to her!
Thanks for the links!!
Alternatives to dollyhair’s site
Feel free to add on but I though i’d share some alternatives that have good reviews
Hi I just wanted to add a blip that DollPlanet’s hair isn’t actually nylon, I’m not sure who told them it’s nylon but going off of both the photos on their listings and the pictures from their reviews, I’m almost 99% sure it’s the same hair used on heat-resistant BJD wigs, which is usually PET (polyethylene-terephthalate) or a similar fiber, but definitely not nylon.
Ofc I haven’t handled the hair, but I’ve been working with doll hair long enough to almost 100% know the difference just from a glance (especially with raw hair), there are some matte looking nylon shades but they don’t look like that. The sheen is very much like PET or kanekalon to me,(which is why it might react to heat and styling differently than nylon, because it’s not nylon lol)
I don’t want to disparage them or anything but people should know that what they’re getting from DollPlanet is not nylon, and adjust their expectations accordingly.
I CAN say that Dolltress and CustomdollhairAU are both real nylon, however, and Retrodolls too.
I’ll also add that Restoredoll’s ‘’nylon’’ is polypropylene which is pretty nasty hair, the only real nylon they have is the ‘premium nylon’ which they only have in a couple shades..not sure what’s up with the mislabeling but w/e lol.
Saran hair is made by a single manufacturer, and I’m pretty sure Nylon is too, so the biggest choice you need to make regarding the alternative sites is which service you prefer; their sizing, color selection, shipping, customer service, etc etc etc etc
I don’t want to sound like an egghead but yeah thought people should know which stores carry actual nylon and which stores have mislabeled product.
