I don’t know, unfortunately!  I don’t have Windows 8 in order to check, and the program has its last update listed in 2001.  I do have Windows 7, though, and the program booted up for me instantly - no adjusted compatibility, no demands to remove Aero because of memory constraints, nothing. Just suddenly happy things sitting on my windows.    I think it will probably work in Windows 8.  It seems to be so small and simple a program that it just boots up everywhere.   I don’t know how many downloads these things have actually had (I suppose I could check my website stats and see), but no one has complained to me that they don’t work yet!

But! If you feel like testing it out, I could put information on the next to that it does or doesn’t work and you could help some people out! :D
