These are the Barbie cars I had acquired through the 90s and into summer of 2002–most were actual Mattel, but the dark green Jaguar was BBi and the PT Cruiser was EverSparkle. The range of scales is comical.

When I was a child, like three or four, I had a really hard time conceptualizing how cars were structured because of Barbie cars. Because of Barbie, I thought that all cars had to have long fronts for fully extended leg room, but because of also seeing the engine in my dad’s car, I knew they were in there somewhere too, and I became very afraid for a short period of time that everyone who was driving had their legs just dangling next to some very scary machine parts.
