Actually I have to wonder if it would have helped her. I know why she and many women feel as if it wouldn’t have but I wonder if it would have made voters feels connected to her and made her feel more like a real person, espcecially since one of the main things against her was that she didn’t feel like an authentic person.
I’ve essentially determined that people who passionately hate Hillary will find any reason to hate her. Especially if they hate women on principle.
Society is determined to make women seem unrelated for not being warm and palpable. Men can behave however they want and have, but we have to be warm, accommodating, and understanding.
Now, stuck with me for this. Hillary Clinton’s behavioral transformation is similar to Scully from the x files. Scully starts out as happy, smiling, and jokes for days. By mid series, she’s reserved, occasionally cracks a joke, and guarded. Why? Because she’s been abducted, her sister was killed, given cancer, and had a child that was bad to die. Her personality transformation was a reaction to outside sources.
For those who are unfamiliar, which is most of tumblr, Hillary has been ruthlessly targeted and attacked by conservatives since at least the 70s. She was even pressured to take bill’s name because I believe she went by her maiden name for a while, Rodham.
Every part of who she was has always been attacked, so she had to pull further and further within herself to protect herself. Even now, no matter what she does, people will not leave her alone. They can make a scandal out of anything.
So, Hillary opening up and doing what men are allowed to do would’ve bitten her on the ass because her merely existing is offensive to people.
And I can’t exactly pinpoint conservatives problem with her because if it’s not one thing, it’s another. But, Hillary should definitely be relatable to many women. Many women should be able to relate to biting your tongue because you being smarter, telling the truth, and calling out someone (a man) would blow back against you. Many should relate to being an overqualified woman having to prove yourself to an under qualified/incompetent man.
Hillary’s ambition is so offensive to both women and men, that they refused to support her and make her president.
She comes off as inauthentic because people to her to shut up and go away for daring to join any conversation or have fun.
Even in 2016, many people knew that she couldn’t have told trump to shut up without it blowing up in her face. I remember speaking to this lady at Macy’s who said that she loved that Trump spoke his mind, yet Hillary was a nasty woman or something.
