I AM SUMMONED–

If I am qualified to answer anything in this life, it’s how to dress goth while being absolutely exhausted as fuck. (I’ve had many diagnoses in this life, but CFS/ME/MCAS/POTS/Chiari/what have you, probably some hypermobility I haven’t felt like doing the workup for.)

I’ve actually often considered doing a blog (or tumblr) about this topic specifically, but uh… yeah, fatigued. But now! Now is my time to infodump.

Cut for a massive dissertation on clothes, hair, makeup, etc. going over ease of dressing/styling, ease of washing, and sensory/allergy issues:

I also really can’t stress enough how far just wearing all black will get you in terms of feeling put-together and, well, goth. A black long dress, tee and black skirt or even tunic and yoga/pajama pants looks reasonably well put-together. There’s a reason so many stores use it for a uniform.

I think, with chronic illness, that the “throw out ugly clothes” rule is really important. Assuming you can afford it, getting rid of old novelty tee shirts* or some weird patterned ugly pajama pants, and anything stained/too ripped to repair goes a long way to keeping your self-image up.

*Perfect for tee-shirt quilts if you’re a sentimental hoarder. But don’t torture yourself wearing them.
