Maybe a year and a half ago, my cat Onyx chewed the plunger bit off of my beloved Dalek Bluetooth speaker. Today, while I was unable to do very much because of this sudden freaky attack of debilitating back pain, I suddenly thought of how to make a replacement one.

I made a mold of this pretty sphere in some ancient Crayola Model Magic I had lying around, and I was ready to just use the Model Magic itself as the plunger and then I thought I would fill it with hot glue instead. At first I didn’t think it would work and so I was devising all of these other ways to make small hemispheres and then it actually worked really well and I cut it and tried to shape it as smoothly as possible - which is still not very - and just glued that sucker right on there. It’s kind of a sad looking little prosthetic up close because of how rough it is, but it has restored the vibe of the Dalek.
