today i learned that “Gary” is a canonical Cardassian name
he was apparently named after the VFX coordinator and supervisor for DS9, Gary Hutzel, but like…..
since its a cardassian first name, and we don’t hear many of the cardassian characters’ first names in the show, ANY one of them could be a Gary
lurking in plain sight
Okay but. The canon possibility of Gary as a nickname for Garak
Dukat’s father called Garak “Gary” once and that’s why Garak had him executed
