yes the “inhuman nonbinary character” thing can be a very uncomfortable or even outright offensive trope, but there are a lot of instances where the creator(s) of the media are themselves nonbinary
Every nonbinary person I know, myself included, has a complex relationship with that trope, because on the one hand, we are human beings, but on the other? When you spend long enough being treated as otherworldly and inhuman, claiming that for yourself can feel really powerful.
