Not a high literary recommendation or anything, but sentimental in the way it stuck with me because of my surroundings at the time, and because of the illustrations.
My teachers in Elementary School understood my deep Egypt Obsession and added several books about it to the little libraries they had in their classrooms for downtime between work especially for me.
My friend and I were making ancient Egyptian characters and we named several of them after the characters we found in these books. This one was really special to me:
All the time I could not remember what it was called because stuff about ancient Egypt has like a bingo card of things you can call it and so everything about it all has a name like Jewel of the Nile or golden desert Jewel something-or-other, sand, gold, lotus, pyramid, etc.
I kept coming up on “The Egyptian Cinderella”, which we also read and named a character after, but I remembered the fish shaped eyes in this one and the style with no lines. Finally found it this morning after discovering that the name I thought we had taken from this book we had actually taken from another one.
Anyway, I ordered this one and another beloved childhood favorite this morning. Excited to see them again and compare my mental images to the pages.
