They didn’t abandon anyone I loved desperately in the semi-final today, though I was sad to see Austria not make it after he performed so well. I thought he was far better than whatever was going on from Serbia, but whatever. Moldova was also just really not great compared to her studio recording. I got this feeling that like half the people performing could not hear their backing track in either semi? I don’t know that I’ve ever noticed so many people totally off where they were aiming for before. I’m usually all for dance songs over ballad-y whatnot because I frankly can’t stand love songs on the whole, I just thought considering how audibly wince-inducing a lot of the other performers were that Austria was very clean and strong.

But Iceland made it despite Covid scare, so I’m delighted for them. That man should be an international treasure and is one my rare exceptions to my rule of ‘no songs sung by men about women’. His mix of the Eurovision Anthem is also A Goddamn Joy that I wish upon all of you.

And Finland, they were GREAT. I really enjoyed their performance. Switzerland also, he was excellent.

I had a great time watching Denmark. The 80s was strong. I would rather watch them again than Serbia or Moldova, haha.
