Peter David’s Space Cases on Nickelodeon.

Why am I thinking about this show now? Well, do I really need a reason? I loved it. But, it is shocking how similar the just announced Star Trek: Prodigy series is in premise to it.

Consider:

Premise is young, unseasoned cadets who happen to be considered misfits, who commandeer a mystery ship they don’t fully understand;

Cast is made up entirely of weird aliens, one earthling, and an artificial intelligence;

Youth oriented show where the young people, not adult authority figures, are the main characters.

It would not shock me if Prodigy was a stealth reboot of Space Cases, in much the same way Nickelodeon revived the premise of Mysterious Cities of Gold (an early Nick hit) for the similar Avatar the Last Airbender.
