HI THERE, I have a weird question! I want to make a Bester doll to go with the rest of my Babylon 5 dolls, but I’m pretty new to doll modding. What sort of doll do you think would make a good base for him? I’d ideally like it to be short/slim enough to look roughly Bester-sized in comparison to my other dolls, so a generic Ken probably wouldn’t be the best, but I’m not familiar enough with mass market dolls to know what would be better!

That depends a lot on what your other Babylon 5 dolls are like!

Do you have the Exclusive Premiere official releases, or are these customs?

My Exclusive Premiere ones chill pretty comfortably with my Garak and Bashir Star Trek ones as far as general scale.

Here’s Glam Rock G'Kar with Garak. Both have seen a good deal of repainting and Garak is wearing a special button, but this does not detract from general size and scale comparison.

You could probably even get a Chekov and shave/reshape his hair with some sculpting goodtimes like Miliput or Apoxie Putty. I don’t know how well they did with the likenesses on Chekov dolls because I’ve never looked into one, but it would probably get you closer than a random generic head.

Plus if you got a Chekov doll head, you could swap it onto one of the generic human man B5 bodies. They’re all a lot smaller and less bulky Comic Book Man than the Star Trek ones. It may take some engineering since I don’t know what their neck connectors all look like, but it’s almost certainly possible.

If they’re different dolls entirely, it’s hard to know what to recommend. Truly skinny scrawny male dolls are a real challenge to get at any skale (my Garak and Bashir are both pretty beefy under their clothes, even though I attacked them with a dremel because their hyper comic book muscles freaked me out) and often as soon as they get not beefy they also get creepily infantilized, so it’s a weird terrain to enter.
