MGA’s upcoming doll brand Dream Ella/Aria (official name not known yet)
I talked about these on my twitter when they dropped But I think they look fine. Still can’t tell if these are pics of actual dolls or just Renders of ones. Don’t wanna make any final judgements until I see an actual doll (or at least a leaked image of one)
Also Looking at them now I get the vibe that MGA want’s these to go after the same very young demographic Mattel is trying to go for with playline Barbie
I mean.. they don’t look bad, but they do just look like Barbie knockoffs. If I saw them at Walmart my first thought would not at all be “Oh, new MGA line!” It would be “Just another off-brand Barbie knockoff.” Not Dollar Store level, but not MGA dolls.
They do kinda give off that vibe yeah
Those are 100% renders (it’s the “cloth”–I am way too much into fabric so I can tell that…isn’t fabric) but somehow they still manage to have Sparkle Girlz hair. And the reason I was focusing on the “cloth” was to get an idea of the scale of these, because I’m still not convinced they’re going to be Barbie size.
(and, speaking of hair, the hair shapes on the unicorns is exactly the same for all of them, which is another indication it’s at least a recolor of one thing, but more likely color shifted renders)
There do seem to be multiple body shapes.
So brave and innovative, to give girls a new line of dolls of the exact same fashion-doesn’t-live-here, nurturing-and-service-gender-role careers that Mattel’s been giving them all century. If the doctor comes with a pet or a baby, I may just spit at my screen.

These do look like dollar store “Barbies” and also like the old Fairytopia line that died years ago in the same old gender safe roles as always.
Surprising that MGA would copy something that’s already fully outdated.
I am absolutely not excited by their size regardless of what it is if they’re not FULLY articulated.
I think it’s MGA saying “we can do What Mattel does if we want to” and by “do” they mean “tap the market for parents who want extremely traditional dolls for their kids”
:-/ I think what I personally wanted from a “MGA vamps Barbie” line was “Bratz but More Human Proportioned” or “Rainbow High but More Human Proportioned”
Basically, make a punky doll with edgy clothes I can steal for my MtMs….
