Why Shadi didn’t go in Malik’s head:
Shadi just took a peek at Malik’s mind and went the other way. After dying he decided not to mess with Malik. He decided to just give a ten year old who just murdered his own father a very ominous message and leave it at that.

Thus they got to run around without Shadi bothering them.
