Thinking about battle city from Marik’s point of view is wild. You ever go on a quest to free your people and kill the evil lich king who murdered your father and kept your family stuck underground for centuries and when you get there it turns out that 1) yes, there is a lich king, but he never asked anyone to live underground and has no fucking idea what you’re talking about and 2) you killed your own father and don’t remember it and literally everyone else already knew this and just didn’t bother to tell you about it. Bonkers plot twist. I would throw the book across the room
