what really annoys me about the shift to Discord by fandom at large is that your fanfic will get recced on a server somewhere and the people will talk about it to each other instead of to YOU
which is so annoying, because like. man. I worked hard on that. I wanna know what people are saying.
Discord sucks up a lot of the engagement when fic crosses into its orbit
#oh yeah it sucks as an artist too bc they do the same thing
and half the time they won’t even tell you who the artist is when they repost too! so not only is it disconnected from the context but you don’t even get any credit unless you put a really obvious watermark on it
This is basically the same problem, yeah :/ whenever I see Twitter art I like in a discord, I try to always at least click through and like or retweet it. I think it can be harder to know what to say to an artist, especially if the art is n sfw… but at the very least you can use the engagement mechanisms
