Here’s a fun game: Compare the official Shounen Jump-hosted digital versions of Yu-Gi-Oh, and count how many panels of early Yami Yugi have been redrawn (assumably for special re-releases) in the Japanese version.
I guess the US won’t ever be blessed with these updated arts (or ever get mistakes like the “Mai Shiranui” misname or etc fixed).
this is fascinating
the original draings are Objectively Scarier, but otoh…. the updated ones are kinda more scary because it makes it clearer it’s the same character as later when things are… a little less disturbing, mostly.
