The Gayer-Anderson Cat
Origin: Ancient Egypt, Late Period (c. 664–332 BC).
Description: The sculpture represents the female cat deity Bastet and was named after the couple that donated it to the British Museum, where it remains today. Made of bronze, the figure wears gold jewelry and a winged scarab appears on her chest.
