The first look at Barbie Looks dolls for December 2022/January 2023. I cannot wait for them! I’m very excited for petite light brown skin doll finally! They should really have every body shape in every shade of color. Also the blonde and redhead look like they have really nice face sculpts from this photo although the photo isn’t really detailed.

What are your thoughts? 🥰

These outfits look like the cheap knock off outfits you see on like amazon. However the dolls themselves look good.

They actually remind me of cheap knock offs of a previous project that was unavailable to the public…

THIS. Why doesn’t Mattel release THIS????

I would LOVE to own this doll.

outfits look shite but the dolls look nice from what I can see. Im’ getting some wwe vibes from a few of them though, that said, the wwe dolls had some really pretty sculpts too.

As usual the boys look dumb as fuck. Seriously does Mattel just hate ken dolls or something? they always seem to put as little effort into finishing them.

but yeah, why the hell does Mattel make these GORGEOUS dolls and then be all “nah those were just for display/some art thing, fuck you if you wanted decent collector dolls.”

bcause the whole point of this line is for you to redress them🤡 i for once am excited to finally get fashion pieces thst arent black, white or silver

While I’m pretty sure we are all aware of that, Mattel could have put the money for the clothes towards designing something that is at least more functional for collectors.

Like if they wanted to add color, they could have easily given each doll a single color top (eliminating the color-blocking where it exists making the clothes easier to sew) and maybe given them all denim bottoms (jeans, shorts, skirts, etc) or even given them a more muted solid colored bottom. The curvy doll and the standard Ken are the best of the line because at least their pieces could be restyled fairly easily, but the rest look like BMR Knockoffs.

As you said the purpose of this line is for the dolls themselves, but that isn’t how Mattel corporate sees it and it likely never will be or they would just eliminate the clothes and sell nude dolls. The thing is is that if Mattel went with a more subdued approach a la Waves 1 and 2, then the extra clothes would be more likely to be used because some of the more plain clothes are wardrobe staples and that can be restyled infinitely but there are only so many ways you can style a colorblocked dress or shirt and it look okay.
