On one hand, the transparent legs, fins and the scales are cool but like… what is with the reboot art being *so* different from the dolls? It doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t *feel* streamlined.

The color change, like frenkie, was because the classic image of the sea monsters is from Universal, and therefore cannot be replicated without having legal problems.
The second reason may well be part of the character’s history! Her mother is not a sea monster, but a nymph! So clearly the color pink is to represent mother!
