Beetlejuice by BST AXN

Some time ago I got my grubby hands on a Beetlejuice action figure by BST AXN™ by The Loyal Subjects™. I can't remember if he released late last year or early this year, though I'm leaning towards the latter. I love Beetlejuice, especially the cartoon version as that was my introduction as a child. A kick ass girl with a crude wisecrack friend full of puns causing chaos? Yes and thank you.

Anywho, the figure in box looks quite decent!:

Except ...

There's no sandworm. Instead, it's Ginger the tap dancing spider. Apparently, they swapped out the figures at some point during production but never updated the packaging. 

Now, for some close-ups:

Yikes. From what I've seen from others sharing their BJs, a shoddy paint job seems to pretty common. So repainting the face and skin (he's more lavender), removing the seam lines, and cleaning up all the stripes on his suit are things I'll definitely have to do.

And now, articulation:

Double jointed elbows.

He's made of very soft plastic and can be damaged easily.

Torso joint. I found out he can separate when i tried to move him and he popped right off.

Speaking of, his thighs pop off too. Found that out trying to sit him.

This is the best he can sit before he breaks apart.

I started cleaning up some of the flash excess plastic here and there. I saw a big piece of flash inside his shoulder cavity, but had trouble pulling it out. I grabbed my craft blade and sliced it out. 

Then...

Turns out that big piece of excess plastic flash in the socket wasn't actually flash. It was a peg keeping the arm in place.

So, um, add that to the project's to-do list.

I'm happy to have this figure but it is a bit frustrating seeing how many flaws and low quality he is.  They had announced a Lydia companion figure as well, and if they do produce her (rumors are she got cancelled), I hope she's a little better in terms of quality control.
