I got an email this morning titled ‘Touch of TARDIS Print’ from the Press and Media Liaison from the 'LI Who’ convention. (This, after some squinting, I realized meant 'Long Island Who’.)
He was asking if he could get a donation for their charity auction, and while he didn’t mention what donation he wanted in the email, the title means he’s after one of these.
On one hand, this is potentially some exposure to people who would otherwise not see my work, because they’re going to this con rather than Gallifrey One, where I attend and occasionally exhibit. On the other, since I’m still jobless, giving up the profit I’d make on one of the banners I have already printed, or paying to get another printed, AND shipping the thing out (those banners are kinda heavy!), is something I really can’t afford to do.
Does anyone know anything about the con? About it’s potential size? I don’t see anything listed on their website about having an art show, so I don’t know if I could even exhibit for sale things there. About how likely I am to be throwing away a decent opportunity to let more people see what I do if I tell him no?
I can’t figure out whether turning him down or accepting is the more foolish thing to do.
I’d like to have the luxury of donating things without caring if there’s something in it for me, but I really can’t do that.
Ideas? Knowledge? Insights?
Thanks~
